This site is for attorneys and real people. I have tried to load the site up with all the things I search for when researching a case against Midland. I have also included Briefs, Motions, Complaints, Answers, Deposition Plans, Notes or Thoughts on Handling Cases and many other things to help you along. I will keep adding the latest information I learn from my battles with Midland. The site should cut down your research time and sharpen your spear against Midland Funding. It will also give you information to use against other debt collectors.
Michael Bassett is a regular guy and not an attorney. Mr. Bassett has done things very few attorneys have accomplished in their entire career: He took on a major corporation (and the trial judge) and won twice in front of the Michigan Court of Appeals. He has changed the landscape of Michigan debt collection law for consumers and now Midland and other debt collectors must collect debts according to the Bassett Rule. The Bassett Rule is now a universal defense against all debt collection. For four years, Mr. Bassett suffered through two trials and two appeals with persistence, education and a long search for justice. I welcome everyone to our Section titled "Hard work pays off, The Bassett Rule." Please read Mike's personal story of how a Joe Nobody beat Midland Funding LLC (twice) against astronomical odds and all without a law degree. My Trial Transcript inside will show how the Court of Appeals came to its decision. I hope Mr. Bassett's story and this site inspires you to help Stop Midland Funding too. Good luck.
